After years of performing as an ensemble guitarist and singer-songwriter, Eric embraced his passion for instrumental guitar playing and dedicated his focus towards its pursuit. With classical guitar, he began studying with renowned guitarist Kirk Hanser of the Hanser-McClellan Duo, eventually having the opportunity to participate in master classes with the legendary Jorge Morel, Manuel Barrueco, and Pavel Steidl. Shortly after beginning his studies, Eric left the corporate world and joined his mentor as a classical guitar teacher at the Saint Louis Academy for Guitar. This would afford him the time to fully immerse himself in the study and performance of guitar as well as hone his already burgeoning skills. Amidst this period, Eric began to feel the need for a greater musical outlet than his talents on the classical guitar would allow. Already an accomplished acoustic guitarist, he began to write music for acoustic fingerstyle guitar and penned his first composition “Honest Shot”. Eric states “I needed a more encompassing vehicle for self expression. Instrumental acoustic guitar is challenging yet extremely rewarding… composing even more so as it allows me to create, not re-create”. With his purpose cast, Eric refocused his attention to the composition and performance of instrumental acoustic guitar music, the culmination of which would become his first fingerstyle guitar release.
Emerging as one of Saint Louis’ finest instrumental guitarists, Eric has had the opportunity to share the stage with classical guitarists John McClellan and Kirk Hanser, The Brian Vaccaro Jazz Trio, The Byrds Celebration band, singer- songwriter Helen Avakian, and fingerstyle guitarists Brian Henke, Greg Gilbertson, Patrick Woods, Tim Thompson, Kyle Reeder, & Dan Bliss. He has also had the pleasure of jamming with fingerstyle guitarists Michael Chapdelaine, Craig D’Andrea, Tom Shinness and many others.
Eric currently lives in historic downtown Saint Charles, Missouri with his wife Emily and daughter Isabella. In addition to composing, performing, and studying the cello, he maintains his private teaching studio, the Guitar Academie, in Chesterfield, Missouri. Back To Previous Page
